What is the Community Project?
IB learners strive to be caring members of their community who demonstrate a commitment to service, making a positive difference in the lives of others and the environment. Action and service have always been shared values of the Old Mill Middle North IB community. Students take action when they apply what they are learning in the classroom and beyond.
Through the Middle Years Program projects, students experience the responsibility of completing a significant piece of work over an extended period of time.
MYP projects encourage students to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work--key skills that prepare them for success in further study, in the workplace, and in the community. At Old Mill Middle North, students complete the IB MYP Community Project in grade 8. As students become involved in the self-initiated and self-directed learning process, they will find it easier to construct in-depth knowledge on their topic and develop an understanding of themselves as learners.
The IB MYP Community Project Expo
Upon completion of the IB MYP Community Project, students have the opportunity to showcase their hard work and share their designs, prototypes, and solutions with their community. We are so proud of what they accomplished this year!
