Old Mill Middle South school offers an exciting and vibrant STEM Magnet Program. Old Mill Middle School South Named National Certified Magnet School for Outstanding STEM Program. With this award, Magnet Schools of America (MSA) recognizes OMMS to be among the most exemplary magnet school programs in the nation for their high-quality, innovative curriculum and instructional programs that promote choice, equity, diversity, and academic excellence for all students. Old Mill Middle School South Alumna and USNA 2024 graduating Computer Science senior, Abigail Ward, named 2024 Rhodes Scholar. Only 32 students are chosen annually from the United States to serve as Rhodes Scholars. They are chosen not only for their outstanding academics, but for their character, commitment to others, and for their potential for leadership in their chosen career fields. Old Mill Middle School South STEM Magnet Program and BMAH Magnet Program Alumnus, Anagh Asatvan, returned to OMMS while on winter break (12/21/23) to share good news with Ms. Hartman, STEM Department Chair, and his former teachers. Anagh earned a perfect score on his Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), has received multiple acceptances from medical schools around the country, and will graduate from the University of Maryland (UMD) this coming spring (2024).

STEM TEACHER HIGHLIGHTS
STEM Teachers strive to incorporate STEM Values in their instruction as they work with students in this new virtual learning environment. The objective is to teach students to use their knowledge, find resources and develop skills to solve problems, make new products and create opportunities in the world.
