THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

Linthicum Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

Linthicum Elementary's School Story

  • Linthicum Elementary School (LES), established in 1916, has been a cornerstone of the community for over 100 years. The Linthicum community is tight knit and alive with numerous social activities, such as Linthicum Day, an annual Linthicum Parade, as well as other traditions. Linthicum Elementary is nestled in a neighborhood on School Lane in Northern Anne Arundel County, close to the Baltimore Washington International Airport. LES is a school of just under 500 students from a wide range of backgrounds, reporting 14 different home languages. Linthicum Elementary is a generational school, where current students’ parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents attended as well. A large number of our students come from the communities of East Linthicum Heights, Linthicum Heights, Twin Oaks, and Shipley Heights.

Linthicum Elementary is a National Blue Ribbon School, which was awarded in 2014. Linthicum Elementary also participates in the Arts Empowered Minds Initiative (AEMI) program that is utilized to increase access to high-quality arts-integrated learning opportunities for students and teachers. We know that learning through the arts engages students at high levels which correlates greatly with increases in achievement across the disciplines. Moreover, we also focus on collaboration, building positive relationships with students and families, and integration of problem-solving skills in order to increase students’ ability to take risks and strive for greatness academically and social-emotionally.
