THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

Jacobsville Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

Jacobsville Elementary School's School Story

  • Founded in 1964, Jacobsville Elementary is part of a suburban community with a rural feel, nestled in Pasadena, Maryland. Jacobsville is a tight-knit community school where students can walk from nearby neighborhoods like Deerfield, or enjoy a scenic route on the bus from Chesterfield across bustling Mountain Road.   Renovated and expanded in 2015 due to population increase and the need for upgraded facilities and technology, our building now invites families and students with colorful hallways, spacious movement and learning areas, and a modern feel.  Our large school has deep-rooted multi-generational connections, as many of our families and staff members grew up right here in the Chesapeake Cluster and have decided to continue calling it home.  We pride ourselves on our vital community partnerships which include, but are not limited to, the Pasadena Business Association, Lake Shore Rotary Club, and Magothy United Methodist Church.  We are continuing to build a diverse staff of knowledgeable learning leaders who will inspire our inquisitive students.

As you visit our classrooms, you will see students engaged in Community Building Circles to support their social-emotional needs and to build relationships.  You will hear lively discussions aimed at developing multiple perspectives, including supporting students in growing their self-advocacy skills and acting as agents of their own learning.
