THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023
Seven Oaks Elementary School
-
When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement. Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts. Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.
Seven Oaks Elementary's School Story
-
Seven Oaks Elementary School has been serving families in Odenton, Maryland since 2007. The school is located outside of Fort George G. Meade, nestled within the Seven Oaks community. Seven Oaks Elementary School is home to approximately 650 students from a diverse range of educational, cultural, financial, family structure, ethnic, and military backgrounds. Our staff demographics also match those of our students to foster building strong relationships with our students and community.
Our doors are always open at Seven Oaks Elementary School. The Seven Oaks Elementary family welcomes students and their families from the ever-growing Seven Oaks community from their first day inside of our doors. Our main office maintains a constant flow of visitors to our building to visit classrooms, join students for lunch, make requests and inquiries, and have unique needs met. Students and staff can be heard in the hallways, classrooms, and the cafeteria as they foster a love of learning and build lasting relationships.

Dedicated teachers create a structured and orderly learning environment in the classroom, providing all students with access to opportunities and experiences to prepare them for success in college, in their careers, and within the community. Students are actively engaged in well-planned, standards-based lessons and strive to show P.R.I.D.E. (perseverance, respect, integrity, discipline, and excellence) as they learn and apply new skills. Our students come to us with very different learning styles, and we have adjusted our instructional focus and practices to accommodate each student’s needs. We promote the development of collaborative problem solvers and creative thinkers who are self-determined and empowered to become productive and contributing citizens of the world.
Seven Oaks Elementary is fortunate to be an Arts Integration school where artful thinking and creativity is infused with day-to-day learning, as students show mastery of content in all disciplines. Arts integration is utilized to enhance classroom instruction and meet the needs of our students’ various learning styles. In the classrooms and hallways of Seven Oaks Elementary, you will see student creativity on display as they showcase understanding of their learning.
It is the mission of Seven Oaks Elementary School to educate all of our students to be life-long learners, and to empower them to create a better quality of life for themselves, their communities, and the next generation.
