THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

Broadneck Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

Broadneck Elementary's School Story

  • Broadneck Elementary School celebrates over 40 years of dedicated service to the children of Arnold and Annapolis. Our history comes with a rich tradition of academic excellence and community involvement. During the 2008 – 2009 school year, Broadneck Elementary was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Our location on the Broadneck peninsula allows our students to be surrounded by the natural resources of the Chesapeake watershed.

There is a total enrollment of about 800 students for the 2019 – 2020 school year. The entire Broadneck community is committed to preparing our students to engage with and be reflective of the ever-changing global society. Furthermore, Broadneck Elementary is a multigenerational school, with many of our families returning to the area so their children can attend Broadneck Elementary. This is a direct result of the positive experiences past generations have had in the Broadneck Cluster schools. Our parent community invests a lot of time to insure the success of our students; they want our students to grow into well-rounded community members, so they are supportive of our students and our programs.

All stakeholders are involved in meaningful and engaging before, during, and after school activities to meet the needs of our students. Some of the extra activities include Chess Club, Lego Club, Hero Boys Running Club, Girls on the Run, and the Babysitter Training Course. Additionally, our school staff offers Honors Chorus, Jump Rope Team, varying levels of Gymnastics and Dance Teams, and an exceptional theater production every spring.
