THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023
Arnold Elementary School
-
When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement. Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts. Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.
Arnold Elementary's School Story
-
Arnold Elementary School was founded in the 1860’s and still serves children and communities located around the Severn River today. Arnold Elementary is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, a leading Arts Integration School, and a Wellness School of Distinction. Arnold Elementary embraces all aspects of the child: emotional, physical, and academic. Through our wellness initiatives, we encourage a healthy body and mind. We encourage a growth mindset and provide a safe learning environment where students feel free to take academic risks. Teachers strive to know each student the best they can and to make learning meaningful.
The 2019-2020 school year brings many new opportunities. First, we welcome the Naval Academy North Severn River Community families and other new families from our neighborhoods. This year, we also opened a newly constructed building and increased our enrollment to 540 students. In addition to the new community joining us and a new building, we are thrilled to begin as an Enhancing Elementary Excellence (Triple E) school with a focus on Arts and Humanities. This is an exciting addition for us, as we have been an Arts Integration school for more than a decade.
