THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

West Annapolis Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

West Annapolis Elementary's School Story

  • West Annapolis Elementary (WAES) is a small community school rooted in tradition with over 120 years of history that includes active community involvement and support. Students and parents are happy to be at West Annapolis as seen on a daily basis from the smiling faces of our K-5 students throughout our hallways and classrooms demonstrating their WAES Retriever Pride! Our vision and mission state the importance of valuing life-long learning to produce productive citizens who seek to make the world a better place through a balanced academic and arts curriculum.

West Annapolis takes pride in its Blue Ribbon and Green School status and works hard to provide academic rigor through the ALPs and EEE/STEM programs. We value the partnership of our strong, supportive PTA and community as they not only support academic initiatives, but host most of our extra curricular clubs, programs, and social events. This productive partnership provides an open, welcoming and positive climate for staff, students and parents.
