THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

High Point Elementary School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

High Point Elementary's School Story

  • High Point Elementary School - so named because the Native Americans called this area the high point - is located in beautiful Pasadena, Maryland. The High Point community is tight-knit, and many parents and even grandparents attended High Point or Northeast High School, our feeder high school. Residents value the school as the centerpiece of the community and look to the school as a beacon of learning and hope as well as a place where their children are safe and valued.

The “new” High Point Elementary will open for full occupancy on September 4, 2019. The school has completed its modernization project and is essentially a new school. Each classroom is complete with SmartBoard technology, windows to allow for natural lighting, new furniture, vibrant LED lighting, and four walls. The school also has a beautiful media center, a gymnasium which boasts a wooden floor, and so much more.

Student enrollment has increased over the past 10 years and has exceeded yearly projections set forth by the Board of Education. The projected enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is 684 students with a state-rated capacity of 747. Our dedicated staff and updated space will make each of our students and their families feel proud to be part of the High Point community.
