School Renovation Details - 1992; In January, 1996, Lindale Middle moved from the
Brooklyn Park Middle school into the newly renovated Andover High school building. Brooklyn Park moved right along with them so that their building could be
renovated. During this time, the two schools decided to use the same mascot, the Jets. In the fall of 2000, Brooklyn Park Middle moved into their renovated
building and Lindale Middle was finally a middle school with a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. To celebrate the occasion and its new future, Lindale held a contest to choose a new mascot. In 1991, Lindale Junior moved in with Brooklyn Park . Even though the two schools were combined under one roof, they both still retained their own identity and separate staff. Lindale Middle was still called the Lancers and Brooklyn Park was still called the Bees. The school decided to name itself after an American wild cat, the Lynx.

THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

Lindale Middle School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

Lindale Middle's School Story

  • Lindale Middle is located in northern Anne Arundel County near the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. Over the past fifty years, the evolution of our present-day Lindale Middle School has been extensive.  Despite a rich history dating back to 1970, Lindale has transitioned between several buildings prior to settling in our current school building in 1996, merging with another local school: Brooklyn Park Junior High.  In 2000, Lindale Middle School became the sole occupant of our current building, creating the sense of Lynx Pride that resonates throughout the campus today.

We are proud to be one of three AACPS middle schools providing a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Magnet Program. Our STEM students come from a variety of areas, including Fort Meade, Marley, and Odenton; and approximately 26% of our total student body consists of STEM students.  Additionally, Lindale offers students an Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses.

Lindale Middle School also participates in the Arts Empowered Minds Initiative (AEMI) program to increase access to high-quality arts-integrated learning opportunities for students and teachers.  The Young Audience sponsors smART residence artists to create hands-on experiences for students.  Through AEMI, teachers increase their capacity to use arts integration in the classroom through professional development opportunities at the Chesapeake Arts Center. We know that learning through the arts engages students at high levels which correlates with increasing academic achievement of students across all disciplines.

Over the last four years, Lindale Middle has seen an increase in total student population from the low 900s to nearly 1,200 students for this upcoming school year. As our population continues to grow, LMS becomes more diverse in students and staff.  We embrace, celebrate, and pride ourselves on being one of the more diverse middle schools in Anne Arundel county.

Lindale Middle is designated an “Academic Achievement for All” (AAA) school, and as a result receives additional county funds to support our academic programs. Moreover, four of our five elementary feeder schools receive Title 1 federal grant funds. All students attending LMS participate in our universal breakfast program and receive free breakfast.
