Watch Dogs
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement and educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering.
There are two primary goals of the Watch D.O.G.S. program. The program is conducted in collaboration with the administration, faculty, and staff at Crofton Elementary School (CES).
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, and other father-figures who volunteer for one-half or full day at Crofton Elementary School.
Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a chaperone and/or volunteer at Crofton Elementary! There are a few things that must be completed before you can chaperone and volunteer for various opportunities at CES. You will need to have one of two options for background checks. A Commercial Background Check or Fingerprint Supported Background check. All chaperones and volunteers must watch a video on sexual harassment/child abuse, sign a video verification form, and return a signed copy to me electronically at spedersen@aacps.org. The Video Verification Forms are valid for 2 years. All links are listed below.Commercial Background Checks:This is appropriate for most CES chaperone and volunteer opportunities. There is no charge for the Commercial Background Check, and it is valid for two years. Follow the link below to submit your application. Once you have submitted the application, email me with the exact name and spelling you used on the application to spedersen@aacps.org. I must have that information to access the results. I will let you know when I have received the results.Fingerprinting is required for 5th grade drownproofing, overnight field trips, and any other circumstance where you would have unsupervised/unrestricted access to students (i.e. practicing math facts with students outside of the classroom). For a Fingerprint Supported Background Check, you will need to call the Fingerprint Office at 410-222-5045 to make an appointment. The cost is $63.00, which is due at the time of your appointment. We do not offer vouchers for fingerprinting. The Fingerprint Office is located at 2644 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401. The Fingerprint Verification Card is valid for the uninterrupted time your student is attending a school within AACPS. Once you receive your Fingerprint Verification Card, you will need to bring it to the school to have an official copy made. We are no longer accepting electronic copies of Fingerprint Verification Cards.LinksVideo:English - Sexual Harassment/Child AbuseEspañol - Vídeo de acoso sexualVideo Form:Commercial Background Check:
