Our Media Center is the very center of our school.  Students come to the Media Center each week for media instruction and book selection. Students in grades Kindergarten through five come for a one-hour period.  Pre-K come for a thirty-minute period.

Our students love coming to our Media Center to read and share their books.  Readers in 2nd grade, enjoy the Chessie Clubs Levels 1, 2, and 3.  More advanced readers enjoy reading Black-Eyed Susan novels and Newbery Award winners. The boats, fish, and other nautical things earned by the students are proudly displayed in the Media Center. These students are learning to love reading and working toward a goal!

Generally speaking, students may check out books during their weekly Media Center time or during open media times in the morning.  Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Graders can have one book checked out, 2nd grade and up can have two books checked out. Students who want more books may return their books early and get more.

Did you know that students and families can access many library media resources online at any time? All resources available at the school library media center are also available from any computer—online!

The Office of Library Media Services envisions school libraries that are the hub of the school and are innovative, vibrant, and flexible spaces, staffed with school librarians who inspire students to become tech savvy and independent life-long readers and learners.

The mission of the Office of Library Media Services is to develop students who are lifelong readers and effective users of technology and information. We do this by teaching critical thinking, research skills and ensuring access to information resources and literature.  The curriculum is designed to teach library media skills and information literacy at appropriate levels. In collaboration with the teachers, the library media specialist has developed an instructional program based on curriculum and the needs of the student population.

Over 1.6 million items are checked out each year to students and faculty.
