April Bulldog Bulletin

  • Updated May 6, 2024.

  • Despite the April showers, Meade Middle School was buzzing with excitement as we embraced a month filled with vibrant activities for both students and families! Rain or shine, our community thrived, showcasing a plethora of engaging events.

To start off on a heartwarming note, the Anne Arundel County mobile food pantry opened its doors to our community, inviting families to indulge in a shopping spree of essential grocery items, completely free of charge! With 156 individuals and 23 babies served, our community spirit soared as our military student superheroes lent a helping hand, ensuring groceries made it safely to cars.

But wait, there's more! April was not just about filling stomachs but also enriching minds. Our Spring English classes commenced, providing a platform for eager learners to embark on a journey of language mastery. Meanwhile, our littlest ones reveled in Toddler Time with the Severn Library, where reading, dancing, and music blended seamlessly into a whirlwind of joy and learning.

And the excitement didn't stop there! We journeyed to the University of Maryland to bask in the festivities of Maryland Day, welcomed NSA High School students to shed light on the Work Study Program, and embarked on an adventure to Planet Word, igniting imaginations and curiosity.

If you haven't yet experienced the magic of a Meade Middle School Community Event, fear not! May and June promise even more exhilarating adventures and unforgettable moments. Join us as we continue to laugh, learn, and create cherished memories together!

  • What is the “Teen Paddle”?

The Teen Paddle is a week-long canoeing expedition geared towards high school students. The program gives teens a chance to practice leadership and teamwork skills as they navigate the river, conduct water quality tests, study plant communities, help with a stewardship project, camp by the riverside and prepare meals together.

Paddlers enjoy a unique, on-the-water experience that features educational programming and builds a strong stewardship ethic for the river and its natural resources. Campers will become immersed in Patuxent River issues and explore their role in solving them. They end the week with a presentation to local leaders, friends, and family.
