Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 2, 3, 6 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Each and every day, we will begin by welcoming each other, by building our classroom communities, and by getting to know each other's stories. We will also start our staff meetings with this same structure. Our students will continue to come to school, on time, and excited for the Morning Meeting. Our teachers will continue to use the Morning Meetings as a time to be responsive to what is going on in our school, their classroom, and the world around them. (Indicators 1, 2 and 3)

Students will be involved in deeper, more meaningful relationships with all peers as well as adults in the building. Problems will be more easily solved due to our students’ understanding of each other's perspective. Students will share their love of our school and continue to maintain relationships with our teachers and staff. (Indicators 1 and 2)

The culture of Waugh Chapel Elementary will continue to grow stronger and stronger as we begin to truly understand each other; and therefore, will have a strong foundation on which to grow academically and socially. Relationships will be evident between all stakeholders. (Indicator 1)

Parents will be present and active partners in the education of our students. Administration and teachers will solve problems together, even when consensus is not always reached. Our students will be advocating for themselves and attendance will be excellent. Stories will be shared daily. Staff relationships will deepen in a way that will bring our teams to a more cohesive place. Vertical teams will also grow in their collegial conversations. (Indicators 1 and 4)

All student groups at Waugh Chapel will feel valued, appreciated and part of the community.  Achievement gaps will close, and students will feel success and begin individual goal-setting.  We will work to make sure that our FARMS, ESOL and economically disadvantaged students have equal access to events, materials, vocabulary and supports; and therefore, will be able to increase their benchmark scores, their reading levels, and achieve higher proficiency levels on standardized state testing.  All students will make considerable growth from their own personal starting point.  Our students’ will share their successes and celebrate each other in varying ways.  (Indicators 1 and 6)

Our students’ lives at school will be balanced, as they participate and excel in extracurricular activities as well as their academics.  Our students will advocate for new clubs and interests that meet their needs, and they will celebrate their well-rounded stature.

Students will share their positive school experiences in the Morning Meetings. When our students speak of Waugh Chapel Elementary, their faces will show their love for our school. Our hallways will be filled with student artwork that shows the cultures, the stories, and the freedom of expression of our students. (Indicators 1, 2 and 3)
