THE WORK OF OUR STRATEGIC PLAN 2018-2023

North County High School

  • When each school began to plan their important work based on AACPS’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan during the spring of 2018, school teams reflected on their school culture, their community, and the key factors contributing to student achievement.  Each school was then asked to consider which Strategic Plan Indicators would have the greatest positive impact for their students. School leadership teams selected indicators and developed plans to focus and guide their efforts.  Please come with us on our journey as we describe why, what, and how we do our work to serve our students and families of our school.

North County High's School Story

  • Located in Glen Burnie near Baltimore Washington International Airport and Ritchie Highway, North County High School embraces its diversity and history of educating families in the community since the 1950s. North County serves over 2,400 students and their families who bring unique cultural traditions, languages, and stories to form its own melting pot. Having educated multiple generations within the community, we have a large alumni base who offer support, volunteer, and cheer on our students throughout the year at sporting and community events. The dedicated teachers of North County are an integral part of Knights Nation and bring with them a myriad of gifts, talents, and interests that they readily share within the learning community.  North County has a staff of committed personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty, mentor each other in the exchange of best practices, and are devoted to supporting students. Our teachers excel at building relationships with students, offering access to resources, and exposing students to new educational and social opportunities. Studious, Thoughtful, Accountable, Noble, and Determined, North County Knights STAND tall!

The students at North County exhibit a high level of school pride and are often seen wearing their Knights, Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID), and/or Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) gear. The halls of the school are filled with club posters, Art and Science projects, and the loud and proud voices of teachers and students forging new relationships and bonds that they will carry with them outside of school and into their lives as adults. Students are enthusiastic and eager to spread the word on upcoming events, seek support from staff and the community to sponsor club activities, and collaborate with teachers and stakeholders on various academic and extracurricular projects. North County students benefit from several unique experiences accessible on campus. Students have the freedom to work in a greenhouse, collect honey from the apiary, and contribute to recycling initiatives. Whether outdoors or indoors, students and staff value the interactions and opportunities made possible at North County High School.

North County serves the Ferndale, Linthicum, Glen Burnie, and Brooklyn areas. Once Andover High, North County High School formed in 1990 and has educated several thousand students over the last few decades. Current students come from various housing communities such as Cedar Hill, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Heights, Morris Hill, Rippling Ridge, Pleasantville, Glen Ridge, and North Wellham. Many of these students enter North County from its two feeder middle schools, Brooklyn Park and Lindale Middle, whose feeder elementary schools include Belle Grove, Brooklyn Park, Park, Ferndale, George Cromwell, Hilltop, Lithicum, North Glen, and Overlook Elementary schools. We not only serve students at North County, but also the families who entrust us with their children’s education and future. It is a team effort and Knights unite for our students!
