Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 1, 2, 5, 6 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • By increasing opportunities for stakeholder voice over the next few years (ie: PrinciPALS student group, Student Government Association initiatives, PTA collaboration, all staff SIT, Community Forums, Community partnerships, Teacher-led committees, clubs and activities, etc,) all stakeholders will feel like a valuable member of the school or school system community.

Students will see more opportunities for inclusion and participation in school learning and social/play activities. Students will also share that they feel important and love going to school because it's fun.  Our students will say that adults at Crofton Elementary care about them and know not only their name but also their stories. Students will say that they feel safe.

Adults associated with Crofton Elementary School will see students happy, engaged, and taking ownership of their learning. They will say that Crofton Elementary values all stakeholders' voices and creates opportunities for all to feel welcomed and accepted. Parents will say they want their children to attend Crofton Elementary, staff would not choose to work anywhere else (with the exception of receiving a promotion), and administrators would continue to be grateful for the dedication and commitment of all stakeholders in creating a collaborative school culture for our students.

During the 2019-2020 school year and leading into the 2020-2021 school year, all students will continue to be effectively monitored for reading progress by teachers. Effective monitoring includes continuous review of student progress through conferring during guided reading and appropriate use of progress monitoring tools to provide appropriate instruction for all students.

In addition, implementation of appropriate interventions for specific students based on progress will continue to be evident to provide additional support in learning.

Students will see increased flexibility in reading instruction. Opportunities to support growth in reading skills will continue to be emphasized and supported across all content areas. Strategies for reading will be embedded throughout the school day and students will be held accountable to use "what they know" to continue to grow. Students will say they feel empowered to make decisions, provide feedback and engage in reflection about their learning.

Adults will continue to see increased participation in literacy activities by all stakeholders. Adults will say that reading progress and achievement is a non-negotiable. It will be evident that all students are immersed in reading instruction in all classes. Adults will say that Crofton Elementary values a culture of literacy which encourages and engages all students to develop strategies and skills for reading achievement.
