Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Based solely on indicator two, the new and effective adult and student practices we plan on implementing are a PBIS system and a functional Social Committee. The PBIS system will encompass the use of the PBIS behavior matrix in all classrooms, a tiered approach to discipline, and interventions; while also allowing for positive behaviors to dictate the school climate. The school will also begin and perfect the use of an advisory period to build strong relationships by completing community building circles and celebrate each students unique story, while also providing lessons on appropriate behaviors and study habits for students. The PBIS system will also recognize outstanding students and staff by having monthly awards for those who have displayed characteristics of the Pride Matrix. The Social Committee will be used to plan and execute staff led incentives for building a positive work community.

    ------------------------------------

After 2 years of successfully implementing our Strategic Plan Indicators, students will see all staff members referencing the behavior matrix as a guideline for expectations, awarding students who show outstanding examples of these expectations with a pride ticket, and using the discipline later to help those who need corrections on their behavior. The students will see that the staff is not focused on the negatives of student behavior, but rather focused on highlighting the clear expectations and how to meet them. Students will feel a sense of belonging within the school climate through their community building circles and understand that they much in common with their fellow classmates.

    -------------------------------------
After 2 years of successfully implementing our Strategic Plan Indicators, adults will see that the primary focus of the school is help all students feel a sense of belonging and purpose within the school. The adults will also feel valued and feel like they plan a vital role in the growth of every child. No matter the capacity in which they interact with children, all adults will feel responsible for students success and share in their accomplishments. The community circles will allow adults to open up about themselves to each other in staff meetings and their students in advisory to highlight out commonalities and attributes that make us unique. Through the use of consistent across the board and increased communication, the parents of our community will feel that the school is a single cohesive unit that has their child's best interest at hand. The staff members of the school community will also feel appreciated through the increased focus on recognition, and relationship building implemented by the social committee.

Based solely on indicator seven, the new practices that will be observed by the spring of 2020 will include effective planning and instruction, as well as providing additional student supports for success. Effective planning and instruction will take the form of schedule changes to support students who have shown the need for an increase in instructional time (moving courses from every other day to daily), monthly grade level, and departmental meetings, collaborative planning, and data driven collaboration. Additional supports for students will be provided in the form of after-school tutoring, Saturday Academy, and specific advisories for academic purposes.

    --------------------------------------

After 2 years of successfully implementing our Strategic Plan Indicators, students will see increased focus on their learning math standards as well as a plethora of options for them to master the concepts needed to be successful on state assessments. Students will see that through the various modalities present for them to gain remediation/ additional support, they have multiple ways to fill gaps in content knowledge.

    ---------------------------------------

After 2 years of successfully implementing our Strategic Plan Indicators, adults will say that student success in math is one of the primary purposes of the school. Through the various indicators listed, staff members will gain chances to work closely with their peers and conduct observations to help grow their own ability to teacher students. The increased focus on data driven meetings will help provide focus and direction for every meeting and will allow the staff to feel like all meetings are purposeful and effective. Parents will say that the school has a clear vision on where it places student learning on math standards and has an effective support ready in the case a student needs it.
