Strategic Plan Indicators
-
After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students. Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year. Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results. The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

Strategic Journey
-
Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools. They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey. Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.
Our Vision of Success: 2021
-
By the Spring of 2020 there will be a variety of adult and student routines/practices in place at AHS to support indicator two, increase the percentage of students who report that AACPS staff care for and support them. Specifically, there will be an increase in the number of school wide incentivized events, an increased focus on the effectiveness of PBIS strategies within classrooms and around AHS, and an increased availability of school based clubs that target a variety of types of interests, all of which will be available to students during the school day (Panther Hour) as opposed to after school hours.
------------------------------------
By the Spring of 2020 students will say that they have access to a wide variety of clubs and organizations and positive incentives. Each of these clubs will provide students with ongoing opportunities to engage in AHS and "buy in" to the culture and climate of the school. In addition, they will be able to develop a broad peer group that will further hook them into the concept of success being possible for all students in high school and beyond.
------------------------------------
By the Spring of 2020 adults will say that they notice a considerable difference when they are speaking with and interacting with AHS students as it relates to their level of engagement and ownership over their own educational success as well as their general interest in attending school and being fully engaged while in school.

By the Spring of 2020 there will be a variety of adult and student routines/practices in place at AHS to support indicator seven, increase the percentage of students in grades 9-12 who meet or exceed expectations on standardized English and mathematics assessments. Specifically, AHS will implement a calendar of mock assessments and review sessions for PARCC, HSA, MISA, AP and IB assessments, have a more specific focus on PARCC data analysis during monthly leadership meetings and during ongoing content team meetings. This will align with professional development sessions for all AHS staff members in an effort to positively impact the assessment scores for all students.
--------------------------------------
By the Spring of 2020 students will say that they have understand the importance of working to improve their performance on each of the aforementioned assessments as well as how their teachers will support them in that goal. They will have an increased understanding of how they can achieve certain scores on those assessments as well as what correlation there is between their success in their classes and PARCC/HSA/MISA, etc.
---------------------------------------
By the Spring of 2020 adults will say that they notice a considerable difference when they are speaking with and interacting with AHS students as it relates to their level of engagement and ownership over their own educational success as well as their general interest in being fully engaged and accountable regarding their success on PARCC, HSA, MISA, AP, IB, etc.
