Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 3, 7, 9, 10, 16 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • Our goal is for all students to have equitable access to resources, experiences, and opportunities to set them up for success both in high school and post-secondary pathways. Additionally, we strive for 100% of 9th graders to be promoted to sophomore status. Teachers and school leaders at North County are working diligently to increase student success on all statewide assessments. Although the State requirement for passing is a PLD 3, our goal is to begin moving students towards reaching a PLD 4. Schoolwide by 2020, all teachers will implement AVID and WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading) framework in all classrooms to support strategies for success in college and career. Teachers will work to incorporate all components of the framework into each lesson. With a rigorous and engaging curriculum that is culturally responsive, North County High School staff will cultivate a culture of independent and critical thinking within students, with the hope of our students having the skills and knowledge necessary for success in whatever future they choose to pursue.  (Indicator 7 and 9)

Teachers will collaboratively plan each week with the needs of each student at the center of conversation and decisions. High expectations will be the norm for teachers and students. Professional development geared towards improving instruction, personal reflection, and reaching all students will support teachers in growing pedagogy and capacity. In the coming years, more students will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education because of teachers who honed their craft to better meet the needs of every North County student. Students will be able to say that they were engaged and challenged in all of their classes. They will say that their teachers motivated them and made them think critically. They will have experienced success on state and national exams and have options to go to work, trade school, college, or join the military upon graduation from North County High School.
