Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 3, 6 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • By the spring of 2021, our students and staff will participate in daily Community Building Circles, and trained staff members will respond to negative behaviors using Restorative Justice Circles. All staff members will be trained in how to successfully facilitate Community Circles and provide safe spaces for students to voice concerns, thoughts, and preferences. In order to accomplish these goals, a Restorative Practices team will be established and trained in both Community Building Circles and Restorative Justice Practices. Monarch Global Academy administrators will use walkthroughs, internal student and teacher surveys, and the ESSA survey to fine tune our implementation of Restorative Practices. Our students will say they feel supported and understood by the staff and their peers at MGA. The mutually respectful relationships we have worked to cultivate will result in decreased discipline referrals and an increase in the positive culture we embrace within our building. (Indicators 2 and 3)

To increase the percentage of students who exceed expectations on math assessments, by the spring of 2020, MGA will implement weekly math Collaborative Planning meetings led by a highly qualified Math Instructional Guide. These meetings will focus on planning for increased student learning for targeted groups. Planning will focus on remediation and extension groups to eliminate all gaps. Planning meetings will be based on analysis of student data, development or selection of common formative assessments, and creation of engaging learning centers. Additionally, the First in Math program will be implemented in grades 2-8 to develop engagement in math both in school and at home. The i-Ready diagnostic assessment will continue to inform teachers of student growth. These diagnostic assessments will allow teachers and Math Instructional Guides to monitor growth throughout the year. The Math Instructional Guide will continue to provide intervention services to students who are performing below grade level. As a result, our students will continue to see increased success on their Math assessments. Our students will feel like accomplished mathematicians as their ability to solve complex Math increases over time. In addition, all subgroups of students will see growth in Math skills and a movement toward increased mastery on state assessments. (Indicator 6)
