How can I build trust in my work environment?
Trust is an essential component of building relationships. In this self-paced, online module, participants will explore the Anatomy of Trust as explained by Dr. Brene’ Brown, research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. By the end of the module, participants will gain awareness of the attributes that foster trust. Participants will also practice ways to build trust.

How should social media be regulated for use in our school system?
Social media is a growing part of our lives and the lives of our students. In this module, you will explore the impact of social media on the school environment. Through research and interviews, you will be able to reflect on your own experience with social media, both professionally and personally, and will develop an argument for or against using social media in school.

In this module you will look at the diversity in your workplace, analyze the degree of diversity, and determine if there needs to be a shift to a more diversified workforce. Whether in a classroom, school, or office, you will learn what it means to be "culturally relevant" and will explore how to make the workplace a level playing field for all.

How do I build relevant value relationships and can relationships be repaired?
Great teams are built on great relationships. But how are these teams formed--by their leaders, the coaches. What values do teammates have that make them an essential, integral and memorable part of a “Team”. In this module, learners will explore how athletic teams build and maintain effective relationships and how those relationships relate to success on the field by attending a sports event or interviewing a coach and reading excerpts from Jon Gordon’s book “The Hard Hat”.

How can learning functional Spanish strengthen ties with our hispanic community?
Greeting a student or community member in his or her own language is an important step to make all students, families, employees & community members feel welcome. By taking a Spanish for Communication Course, learners will be able to better assist Spanish speaking students and visitors over the telephone and in-person. Topics covered include Hispanic culture, frequently used and key phrases, pronunciation and tips for communicating with non-English speakers. A visit to the Center of Help culminates this course.

In this module, you will explore communication styles and the importance of understanding how to manage conflict through effective communication. By understanding different types of communication styles, participants will work to develop tools in dealing with a variety of workplace situations.

Look Out Peru, Here I Come!
How will I use my experiences in Cusco to take my students and parents beyond the classroom walls?
This module is an immersive volunteering and learning opportunity that begins in Cusco, Peru. Travel and financial commitments are required of the participant. By the end of the module, participants will gain Spanish language acquisition, a deeper understanding of cross-cultural communication and sharing, an increase in cultural intelligence, and a greater comprehension of self as a positive agent of change within AACPS. (NOTE: This module is only offered during the Summer months)

Sailing in the Right Direction
How can the mix of professional working styles in your group help you work efficiently?
Have you ever thought about your professional working style? Do you jump right in to a new challenge or do you prefer to gain input from others on your team? Have you ever been frustrated by colleagues who get hung up on the details when you want to focus on the big picture, or vice versa? We all have a professional work style that impacts the way we interact with others when working on a job. Understanding your own work style and the style of others is an important step to developing a positive, functioning team.
In this module, you will lead an activity to allow you and a “team” of your choice identify your individual work styles and the strengths and weaknesses that each of those styles bring to the table. Then, you will have an opportunity to explore how those styles impact the work you do every day and apply what you’ve learned to improve the communication and effectiveness of your team.

Secret No More-Book Study
This module is a study of the non-fiction book "Secret No More" by Lisa Hillman. The goal of this module is to explore relationships that are a help or hindrance as the local mother tries to help her son manage his addiction and work toward recovery. After registering for this session, you should receive an email with a link to the accompanying BlackBoard module. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours after registering, please check Brightspace to see if the Secret No More course has been added to your classes in which you are enrolled.
