LEO HYLAN
Leo Hylan is a Multimedia Artist, Photographer, Filmmaker, Video Artist (Installation and VJ), and Electronic Musician from the Baltimore / WashingtonArea. He received his B.F.A. in New Media from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an M.A.T. in Arts Education and an M.F.A in Digital Arts from Goucher College.
Leo is an Award Winning Artist who has had featured solo and group exhibitions for his Multimedia work in prestigious galleries throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He has designed several video installations for galleries, local restaurants and film festivals such as the Annapolis Film Festival. This includes major public video installations including the Commerce Outdoor Screen and The Kimmel Center Video Cube, both in Downtown Philadelphia. In addition to these exhibitions and installations, Leo is a multimedia performer. These performances can be in the form of electronic music, experimental sound, live video or any combination of the three. He has performed at various locations throughout the Baltimore, MD / Washington, D.C., Asheville, NC, Philadelphia, PA, and New York areas; as well as, major east coast music festivals. This includes live video performances for nationally acclaimed musicians such as Telesma, Alto Verde (Andy Bopp), and others.
As a filmmaker he has produced three short films that use or combine 16mm, 8mm, and Video. All of which were selected to be shown at premier cinemas including the Gene Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago. Leo Hylan is a Founder and Instructor of Film, Video, Artistic Development, 21st Century Design, and Digital Media at the First Arts Magnet Program in his now hometown of Annapolis, MD. He has also been published in several Art Education Curricula and Journals, selected to speak at the National Art Education Conference in Seattle, WA, featured in numerous articles a including the “City Paper”, “What’s Up Annapolis” , and a profiled in the Capital Gazette for his work as both an artist and an educator.Contact: lhylan@aacps.org
