The Office of Instructional Technology offers telepresence robots for students and schools, these robots allow students to attend classes virtually, explore hallways, have lunch with friends, engage in group assignments, and interact with teachers in real-time without physically leaving their current home, hospital, or school location.
Several of the robots have found application in educational settings, particularly in classrooms. For instance, students utilize these robots to simulate lunar experiences in their science classes, navigating them through moon mazes and assuming the role of a robot. In addition to classroom applications, these telepresence robots offer students facing severe illnesses or injuries that hinder their physical presence in classrooms a unique opportunity to stay connected with their teachers and peers.
