Strategic Plan Indicators
-
After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students. Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year. Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results. The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

Strategic Journey
-
Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools. They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey. Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.
Our Vision of Success: 2021
-
George Cromwell Elementary staff members will be intentional about creating a community within classrooms and within the school. We will increase our use of equity practices within instruction, and use Restorative Practices to build community and to repair community as needed. We will continue to create ways to celebrate all students by recognizing all student birthdays (with the students appearing on the Morning Announcements to announce their own birthday), giving every student the opportunity to be the Student of the Week, displaying Star Student posters in the main hallway, and providing opportunities for all families to engage in the school community. (Indicators 1, 2 and 3)
Students will see that staff members care for them and work hard to support them in a variety of ways. Our recent climate survey data indicates that 84% of students believe that staff care for and support them. By Spring of 2020, our goal is to have 100% of our students share that belief. Adults who come to George Cromwell Elementary will see a school-wide culture focused on caring for and supporting our students. That culture will be evident within the school office, at arrival and dismissal, within classrooms, in the hallways, at lunch, during teacher meetings, during parent teacher conferences, and at school and family events. It will also be evident that our students learn best when they know staff members care about them and know that they are a valued part of the school community. The actions and interactions of all adults will be based on kindness and respect. (Indicators 1 and 2)

All of our teachers (classroom teachers, special education teachers, and resource teachers) will evaluate and analyze formative assessment data during collaborative planning meetings, team meetings, and during individual planning to create relevant and impactful instruction/re-teaching. Teachers will determine students’ individual instructional needs, and have systems to differentiate and deliver targeted individual instruction during the Conferring portion of Guided Reading. Teachers will also develop and implement the use of enhanced literacy centers for identified students throughout the year. Students will see that their teacher cares about them and incorporates reading material that matches their interests and their abilities. Students will also feel that their teacher understands just what help they need to be successful. Students will feel valued as learners. Adults will observe that our teachers know their students very well, and that the teachers take the time to determine what each student needs to be successful. Adults will also notice our intentional focus on a growth mindset as our teachers help their students grow and reach their potential. (Indicators 2, 5 and 6)
