Arundel Middle School

Strategic Plan Indicators

  • After each school leadership team reflected on its school culture, community, and the key contributing factors to student growth, they used this information to select the Strategic Plan Indicators that would have the greatest positive impact for their students.  Each school was directed to select two to six indicators on which to focus during the 2018-19 school year.  Certainly, we all know that if we focus narrowly and deeply, we are more likely to realize positive results.  The indicators that this school’s leadership team selected are noted below.

  • 2019-2020 Strategic Plan Indicator(s) Chosen by the School - 2, 6 (expand to view details)

Strategic Journey

  • Throughout the next 3 years, schools will focus on their chosen Strategic Plan Indicators as the drivers to increase student engagement and achievement within their schools.  They will choose strategies to help them grow or increase within each indicator and will monitor and evaluate the student and school changes that take place along the journey.  Below you will see what this school imagines their students and school to look like in 2021 after having focused and worked on their chosen indicators for three years.

Our Vision of Success: 2021

  • As we look toward the future. . .

We will strive to ensure that all students feel connected to Arundel Middle School. Community Circles will continue to help students get to know one another and to form bonds with classmates and adults with whom they have not previously interacted. (Indicators 1, 2 and 3)

We will see an increased use of the AVID WICOR strategies with greater student self-efficacy in the selection of tools to support active learning. Arundel Middle students will say that they feel supported by their teachers. Students will also say their classes are more active, their lessons are more engaging, and they feel more confident about taking both county and state assessments. (Indicators 2 and 6)

Teachers will continue to employ engaging classroom strategies such as artful thinking routines, Socratic seminars, and other strategies supported through grade level professional development. Meaningful collaborative planning will contribute to effective instruction that will result in increased performance for all students. We will also see more collegiality among teachers and a greater number of staff members who open their classrooms freely to their colleagues. (Indicator 6)

Our parents and stakeholders will see a vibrant, cheerful community of lifelong learners who are preparing to meet the demands of the 21st century.
