Key Challenges to Student Success

  • The students who attend Meade High School are influenced daily by events, situations, and circumstances that occur at home and in their neighborhood.  While there are numerous factors that contribute to student achievement at Meade High, the school leadership team has narrowed its focus to the following challenges to student success, with the acknowledgement that this is not an all-inclusive list and that some students may be affected by other opportunities or issues in their young lives.

    Based on all mathematics data, including grades, quarterly assessments, PARCC data, historical data, as well as additional mathematics data, Meade High School wrote the following goal: INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 9-12 WHO MEET OR EXCEED EXPECTATIONS ON STANDARDIZED ENGLISH AND MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENTS

    Meade High School selected a school-wide goal around improving reasoning skills for all students. This goal was developed, in part, based on the defined challenges identified through our mathematics data. All curricular areas believed through addressing this identified area of challenge for our students, we would open the opportunity for success across all curricular areas, including reading and language performance.

    In order to ensure all students are college, career, and community ready, the Meade staff has made it a priority to address the psycho-social-emotional needs of our students, Socio-economic issues, homelessness, and crises impact many of our families and the children we serve. Meade supports and serves many families who are new to the United States and impacted by barriers including language. The Meade Family is committed to serving and supporting all of our students and their families.
