  • I have more than 3 days absent.

    Yes, you must present a note to your timekeeper in order to have your absence excused as sick leave. You may return to work without the note; however, you may accrue “lost time” for your absences. Lost time is an unauthorized absence from work. Accrual of lost time may result in disciplinary action.

    Effective July 1, 2021, the U.S Department of Labor requires AACPS to designate qualifying leave requests as FMLA Leave. If you are absent more than 3 days, your circumstances may entitle you to FMLA leave. Please visit the forms sections of this site for access to the Extended Leave/FMLA Application.

  • I have more than 3 days absent due to caring for a sick relative

    Yes, you must present a note from your relative’s doctor indicating the reason for your absence in order to have your absence excused as sick leave. You may return to work without the note; however, you may accrue “lost time” for your absences. Lost time is an unauthorized absence from work. Accrual of lost time may result in disciplinary action.

    Yes, your doctor must complete the appropriate form on this page, in order for you to return to work. You may not return to work without submitting it, and receiving authorization to return from your supervisor and/or the IDLM office.

  • I became sick at work; EMS was called.

    You must present a note from a physician in order to return to work. You must submit the note even if you decline to be transported from your work location by EMS. It does not matter how long you are absent from the work site. You may not return to work without submitting it.

  • I have work restrictions. What procedure should I follow?

    Your doctor must complete one of the appropriate forms on this page. You must submit the form before you return to work. Your supervisor will assist in reviewing it, and you will be informed whether your restrictions can be accommodated at your work location. You may not return before you receive authorization from your supervisor and/or the IDLM office.
