Universal Screener
AACPS is required by law to screen students in kindergarten through grade 3 for reading difficulties. AACPS uses mCLASS DIBELS 8th Edition for grades K-3 to screen for early literacy skills. Families will receive a report containing the screening results. Please use the links below to access podcasts that explain how to read and understand the screening results for the DIBELS 8th Edition report and the iReady Diagnostic report.

Students who are identified as at-risk according to the screener will participate in one of the following programs:
- mCLASS Instruction
- mCLASS Intervention
- Wilson Reading System

Progress Monitoring

AACPS monitors student progress to ensure students make adequate growth. All programs have built-in opportunities for teachers to monitor student growth and progress.

DIBELS Screener AACPS screens students in accordance with the Ready to Read Act. All kindergarten - grade 3 students are screened three times per year. This aligns with the recommendations of the DIBELS 8th Edition screener.
