Student Intern-Explore students have some flexibility in the dates for their intern work this summer depending on their targeted intern interest. Below you will find working dates associated with interning in our summer camps and those dates associated with interning in our offices.
- For Students Interning in Elementary School Camps or Programs
Student Intern-Explore Program students who are interning in our elementary school summer camp programs will work four 4-day weeks from:
Monday, July 3rd through Thursday, July 27th
NOTE: These student interns will have a Holiday on July 4th and they will also not work on Fridays as no camps are in session on Fridays during the summer. No other vacation days are permitted.- For Students Interning in AACPS Offices
Student Intern-Explore Program students who are interning in our AACPS offices will have two options for summer work:
- They may choose to work four 4-day weeks from:
Monday, July 3rd through Thursday, July 27th
- They may choose to work six 4-day weeks from:
Monday, July 3rd through Thursday, August 10th
NOTE: Student interns who choose either option above will have a Holiday on July 4th and they will also not work on Fridays as no AACPS offices are open on Fridays during this window of the summer. No other vacation days are permitted.

The workday is 7.5 hours. There will be a 30 minute lunch opportunity provided at each work location. Work will be guided by your teacher-supervisor. NOTE: If you are an intern working at one of our elementary summer camps, please use information from Tables 1 and 2 to initially select your priority work location(s) and eventually to plan your schedule. Select your work location in Table 2 and then review Table 1 to see when you will begin and end your workday based on whether your school is an early or late starting camp location.Example: If you will be working as an intern at Brock Bridge Elementary School, Table 2 tells you it is a late start school. Then look at Table 1 to learn when Late Elementary Schools begin and end their days. You will see that you are expected to arrive by 9:15am and will end your internship day at 4:45pm.

The workday is 7.5 hours. There will be a 30 min lunch opportunity provided at each work location. Work will be assigned and guided by your supervisor. Working independently throughout the day with some staff support is expected. -
Pay
All Summer 2023 Intern-Explore student interns will earn $13.25/hour. Students who complete all work associated with their internship, including all weekly reflections and summary reflections in the AACPS Admintern web portal will also earn 1.0 Internship credit that will count towards total graduation credits.
